Bio

Bárður Reinert Poulsen is a creative and melodic bass player and composer. Born and raised in the Faroe Islands, he moved to Norway in 2011 to study at the renowned Jazz Department in Trondheim, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 2014. In 2020 he got his master's degree in music performance at Norges Musikkhøgskole. He is currently residing in Oslo, being a key member of the jazz scene.

Both during and after his studies he has been active in a wide range of bands and projects, including: Flukten, Espen Berg Trio, Wako, The Fjords and many more, as well as touring with Tore Brunborg, John Pål Inderberg, Silje Nergaard and many others. He has toured in 17 countries in Europe, India, Siberia and four tours each in Japan and China, in addition to covering all of Norway. He has played on more than 25 recordings, winning the Spellemann award in 2022 - the premiere Norwegian music award - for “Velkommen håp”; the debut album of Flukten. His playing is highly attentive and playful, always taking notice of his surroundings and reacting with a careful mix of flamboyancy and artfulness.
